Sometimes reflections show up when we least expect them. Sometimes they surface while observing changes from those around us. Jasmyne was one of those people. As an ex-colleague and friend, for almost two decades, I (and many of us at the office) were aware of her desire to become a transformative coach. She spoke to us about it every chance she got. As far as I knew, her strategic thinking and facilitation skills were invaluable to the publication we worked at, and everyone really valued her work. Why would she need to change anything?
I listened with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. What was a transformative coach? I wasn’t too sure. I knew she read books, took courses and later travelled to California to get certified with Michael Neill’s SuperCoach Academy. I also knew that she spoke about mentors and coaches in her new community, the Three Principles Community (3P for short) and how they had impacted her life and the lives of many others. Each time we got together she shared her insights with such passion and excitement. She even had a whole new lingo. It was all very interesting, but what was a Three PEE person anyway?
Her language seemed different and that had nothing to do with the fact that French was her first language. Some days it was confusing and some days fascinating. Sometimes it sounded deep and spiritual, so I listened. Other times it felt foreign…And I really didn’t know what the heck she was talking about. Then one day, she announced: You know…you’re a 3P person also, by the way. Me? Okay…now I really didn’t know what she was talking about! I thought I was a writer, I snapped back.
We’d worked together for over ten years. During that time, she made it happen. She got her training expanded her career, and did what she set out to do. Our paths crossed again when I began to write copy for her website and podcasts and had the opportunity to work with some of her clients on writing projects. I had the opportunity to listen and even work with many of her guests who were experts in their field. They were 3P people also. The more I listened, the more things made sense. The term 3P then became synonymous to something that made sense – something that spoke to the inner core. It was an inside-out understanding. Authors and speakers like Sydney Banks and Michael Neill were among the first people I heard speaking about the principles (Mind, Consciousness, Thought). Their humor and down-to-earth conversations pointed to a place beyond the words. It made sense.
Well I don’t know if I am a 3P person, but what I do know is that this doesn’t even matter. What matters to me is that I learn something new each day, I embrace the unknown, and I stop putting unnecessary weight on every word. Dare I say, I look beyond the words. As I sift through my own layers of thinking, I sense the lightness of my spirit coming through. I find new ways to connect to others. I get in touch with my own gifts. In the end, maybe it’s just about noticing. And so the journey continues…
