How to Trust Yourself and Take the Next Step

How to Trust Yourself and Take the Next Step

We’ve all been there—taking all the classes, trying to figure it out.

“You need a client avatar.”
“You need a perfect brand.”
“You need to look like you’ve got it all together before you start.”

Well… not in my world.

The avatar creates itself once you start being of service to the people you meet.
Your brand? It’s already with you. And if you really listen to yourself, it will emerge naturally.

When you understand that you have no control over how others see you—and you commit to doing your best with what you know (and make a commitment to learning)—you can start now.
That’s how you begin to trust yourself and take the next step.

I had a client once who came in all fired up:
“I’m ready to build my avatar! Let’s do it!”

And I looked her in the eyes and said, “Yeah… we’re not doing that.”

Not because it’s wrong. But because it wasn’t right for her—not yet.

See, if you try to define who you’re speaking to before you’ve actually had any clients, you’re creating a made-up version of what you think you should be doing.
And when you go out and try to connect with people, it falls flat.
You feel disconnected. Discouraged.
Maybe even like you’re doing something wrong.

But you’re not doing anything wrong—you’re just operating from a “made up” idea instead of what’s real and right in front of you.

When you trust yourself—when you really listen to what’s happening inside—you just suddenly know what to do.
Clarity shows up naturally. It’s no-nonsense.

Be in action—and clarity will emerge.

But it starts with movement. It starts with being in the world. It starts with showing up, talking to people.

We think we have to “know” before we start.

But when you decide to go to the grocery store, you usually have a good idea where you’re going and how to get there.

What if there’s a roadblock? What if there’s traffic?
Do you just give up on groceries?

No. You adjust. You find a new route. Maybe even try a new store.

But when it comes to our business, we put so much weight on every move.
We tell ourselves we can’t screw it up.
And because we can’t screw it up… we wait.
Until we “know.”

When clarity speaks, it’s simple.

If you only knew how much time people spend trying to post one thing on social media…

(And it’s not just social. You could swap in: create a website, send out an email, respond to a client. Same story.)

It’s like… “What if the whole world sees this and it’s not perfect? What will it make me look like?”

Then I show them the stats—how few people actually saw the post—and everything shifts.

Just try things.

If that little voice inside says, “I want to help this person”—reach out.
If you feel curious about a topic—explore it.

Not because it’ll solve world hunger or cover next month’s rent.
Just because.
With nothing on it.
And see where it goes.

When I work with clients…

We don’t start with branding exercises.
Honestly? I don’t care about branding. A brand is built—not made up.

We start by talking.
I listen for what’s behind the words.

I wonder:
What’s in the way of them being in action?
What are they believing that’s keeping them stagnant right now?

Because the truth is—what they want is already in them.
They just can’t always see it through all the noise created by their thinking.

The path forward is created one moment at a time.

Most of the time, what’s really in the way isn’t confusion… it’s fear.

Fear of looking bad.
Fear of messing up.
Fear of not getting it “right.”

And when you’re feeding the fear, the fear gets louder—
while clarity? Clarity is a soft, gentle voice.

So if you slow down your thinking and really become present to the moment—
“What’s going on right now?”—
that little voice might just rise up.

That’s it. Do that. Again and again.
One moment at a time.

The real question:

Person meditating alone on a rock above calm, misty waters during a peaceful sunset, symbolizing inner clarity and presence.

What if it’s easier than you think?

Sit with that.

You don’t know something? Learn.
Looking for clients? Ask.
Think you’re wrong? Find out.
Afraid to look bad? Honestly, someone out there will always think you do.

Trust yourself.
Trust that you can handle anything life throws at you.
Haven’t you already?

Live the life you want.
Look fear in the eye and say:
“Respectfully… shut up.”

Commit to seeing clearly.
Take the next step.

That’s where the magic happens.
